This is the VGP Bowie Series Lecture.  This series of lectures was inaugurated in 1989 to commemorate the 50th presentation of the William Bowie Medal, which is AGU's highest honor and was named for AGU's first president.

The Daly Lecture is traditionally given at the Spring Meeting, now Joint Assembly. 

The 2007 lecture was presented at the May 22-25 2007 joint assembly in Acapulco, Mexico by Professor Timothy L. Grove of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on: “Unlocking the Secrets of the Mantle Wedge: New Insights Into Melt Generation Processes in Subduction Zones”.

Selection is by the VGP section President.  Suggestions will be accepted through October 1 of the year prior to that of the award.
